Yemen

Yemen, which was once called ”Happy Arabia” by Roman geographers, could not be farther from its glorious days. The conflicts that began in late 2014 turned into a civil war that has led to the death of tens of thousands of Yemenis. Schools, hospitals and markets have been bombed indiscriminately during the conflicts, university campuses have been controlled by armed militia and academics and students have been kidnapped, detained or killed on their way to university. Due to the food crisis caused by the civil war, 14 million civilians now face the risk of death from starvation.
